Applying the Past to the Future
The past doesn’t have to be your future.
The most desirable person (in your eyes), in high school might have ignored you, but why should that have anything to do with your ability to attract the person of your dreams today?
The past can provide lessons. But we need to use the memories of the past constructively. Don’t focus on your missed opportunities and mistakes. Thinking in this way, hanging onto this negative energy, ends up creating feelings of regret.
The past is over, let it go. Failure doesn’t prove anything, except that it is a chance to learn. History shows us that quite often, many attempts at something are required before we achieve success.
If you lack skills in certain areas, you can always learn. You weren’t born knowing how to walk or doing advanced math. I won’t tell you that you can be anything you want to be, but you can learn to be a fantastic, and authentic you.
Focusing Too Much On the Future.
Creating goals and making plans is great! But it’s all too common to project into the future and create a source of worry.
Stay focused on today, right now. Right now is the time you can influence your thinking and by default your life path.
The future will come soon enough.
Putting Things Off
“I’ll do it later, it’s on my list.”
Do you feel as if you life has an ‘under construction‘ sign hanging over everything you do.
Are you feeling the guilt of procrastinating?
Procrastination is a vicious cycle, the more we procrastinate the more we undermine our confidence.
Is it easier to have your automobile muffler replaced when you notice it’s too noisy, or to wait until it falls off in the middle of the highway? Your car breaking down doesn’t mean the universe is out to get you, it’s because you previously made decisions to put things off.
If you wait until you’re forced to deal with things, your solutions will be less elegant and less convenient.

Focusing too much on the Positive or the Negative
For example, taking a snub personally may have nothing to do with you.
People do and say things for many reasons that don’t really have anything to do with you. They might be having a bad day, or dealing with a personal issues. They just have something else on their mind than you.
Do you give your failures too much attention? Do you ignore your successes? Give yourself the credit you deserve.
Have a Balanced View
Consider that when you first start dating someone. At first your focused on their positive traits, the things that are attracting you. When the relationship hits a speed bump, you start focusing on their more negative traits.
Be mindful about giving things too much, or too little relevance.
Noticing your negative tendencies is the first step to changing them. When you catch yourself thinking or acting in a way that clouds your judgement, replace that thought pattern with one that serves you better.
Until you understand what is going on within you, the surface you won’t be able to achieve your goals and desires.
